From the Editor : Happy World Fertility Awareness Month!

Hi there fabulous Moms and Dads,

We have reached the halfway point for the year 2013! Time sure flies huh? The coming month of June is an interesting one. For most parents with schooling kids, it’s the arrival of the school holidays and that means some vacation time with the family. For those who are not married on the other hand, some believe that June is the month for all things wedding!

But did you know that in June we also celebrate the World Fertility Awareness Month? In conjunction with that, we at Pitter Patter will be talking about all things fertility this coming month. To most married couples, the journey towards becoming a family is an anticipated and natural process. Some couples however may not be so lucky and may have years of challenges ahead of them before they can welcome their new bundle of joy.

While some may say that fertility or its lack of is a matter of luck, with the advancement in modern medicine and science, this is no longer necessarily true. For some couples, rectifying their infertility dilemmas could be as simple as changing diet or lifestyle. For others, going through a medical procedure to rectify a related health issue. While for others, assisted reproductive treatments such as In-vitro Fertilisation (IVF) or Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) could be an option.

In this issue, we will be exploring some tips on conceiving, which include, ensuring pre conception health for men and women, diet and fertility, as well as exploring the basics of assisted reproductive treatment, namely the In-vitro fertilisation procedure (IVF) that some may refer to as “test tube” babies.

Beyond that, for most married couples without kids, we are sure that you have been inundated the with the question “so…. when are you going to have a baby?” by at least one concern relative or two. Sick of the question yet? Well.. don’t be!  In this issue,  we will also share with you some great responses to that dreaded question.

As the month goes along we will share with you more interesting information about conception and fertility so do keep yourselves posted on all great information coming to you, not only on our website but also our Facebook page.
